历史“新面孔“

History has a new “Face”

When most students think of history, the first word that comes to their minds is “boring”.  To help their students view history from a different perspective, Pei Chun Public School is conducting very unique lessons.

Every Wednesday, Pei Chun pupils attend a history lesson in the School Hall. In order to spice up the lesson, the teacher will commence the session with ancient songs first sung by people from the past, throw in interesting stories as the lesson progresses, and also teach us some idioms or words, thereby increasing our interest in history! At the epilogue of each lesson, there will even be a Question and Answer session, where pupils participate eagerly in hope of reinforcing their history knowledge and winning attractive prizes!

Through this activity, students believe that they have not only strengthened their knowledge of history, but have also unearthed “the new face of history”.

Let’s work hard

An wushu performance I enjoyed ignited a passion in me to get into the wushu team. I trained relentlessly to achieve my aim.

I was exhilarated when I got selected.

Some days after training, my eyes felt heavy with sleep, I fought tooth and nail to keep awake, but I still fell asleep while clearing homework.

My immune system took a beating, I had episodes of fever. I was always in the pink of health, thus my parents reckon, the culprit was the lack of sleep.

My parents said I had to use every pocket of time productively, not burn any midnight oil, and maintain a Band 1 for my subjects. Else, they would remove me from the school team. There was no room for negotiation.

It took weeks before I got into the momentum. My results showed that I was on the right track.

Some days, I felt like throwing in the white towel. I encouraged myself, I will have to conquer this.

My heart thumped wildly when I finished among the top three students. I made it!

Time and tide waits for no man. If I manage time well, it is possible to work hard and play hard.

Let’s work hard

Our school will be undergoing PERI upgrading in 2017 and 2018. Hence, we should take a moment to take a look at the surroundings of our current school compound! Our school is a place for all to study and work in and hence, we must take good care of our school study attentively. We will be moving to the holding school, First Toa Payoh Secondary School, next year.

Thus, some of us may not be able to experience the new school compound. Although that is so, that does not mean that we can disregard the current school compound! Instead, we can help out by helping the cleaners. We can work hard to clean the school compound so that we can look forward to a cleaner and more conducive environment where we can work and study in. Together, we can create a better environment for everyone to study happily and be safe.
